一、last有四种词性：

作名词，最后、末尾、上个

作及物动词，维持，持续，经受住

作形容词或副词，最后的，最近的

一般作形容词最常见，其次是动词。last作形容词常与时间名词搭配作状语

二、last+时间名词作状语

1、last+month 与 the last+month

last month是指上一个自然月，比如现在是11月，则last month是指10月

the last month是指向前一个月的时间，比如今天是11月15日，the last month就是指10月15日到11月15日这段时间。

2、last month作时间状语前面不用介词,谓语用过去时

i was very busy last month.我上个月很忙

i went to park last Friday.周五（今天是周日则这个周五就是前天）我去了公园

3、the last month作时间状语前面要有介词，谓语用现在完成时（以说话时的时间为参照向前）或过去完成时（以过去某个时间为参照向前）

i have been very busy for the last month.过去一月我很忙（说话时间为参照）

This strengthened reform has helped the nation’s economic success in the last two decades.在过去20多年，这一强化的改革帮助国家取得了经济成功。（说话时间为参照）

we had learned 5000 new words by the last year.（过去时间为参照）

4、the last+时间名词，还可以作名词短语，通常前面不加介词

the last few days have been very fresh.

In the following regressions we compare in that fashion the relative standing of  Israeli patents in the last 10 years versus the previous 20 years.

in the last 10 years作定语，是指今天之前的10年内，同时后面的20年是指过去10年之前的20年。

三、last修饰名词作最后解，构成the last + 名词，但遇到前面有其他限定词，the要省略

this is the last bus.

they have had only one win from their last eight mathches.
