Call for Chapters: Managing Big Data in Cloud Computing Environments

Introduction

In recent years, advances in Web technology and the proliferation of sensors and mobile devices connected to the Internet have resulted in the generation of immense data sets available on the Web that need to be processed and stored. Cloud computing has emerged as a paradigm that promises to meet these requirements. Cloud computing is an extremely successful paradigm of service-oriented computing, and has revolutionized the way computing infrastructure is abstracted and used. Cloud computing is associated with service provisioning and these services are based on processing and analyzing huge volumes of data. Big data management in cloud computing environments has been proposed in recent years and is receiving increasing attention. By means of cloud computing technology, massive data can be managed effectively and efficiently to support various aspects of problem solving and decision making. Data management in cloud computing environments is a field which must be investigated by academic researchers together with developers.

Submission Procedure

Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before August 30, 2014, a 2-3 page chapter proposal clearly explaining the mission and concerns of his or her proposed chapter. Authors of accepted proposals will be notified by September 15, 2014 about the status of their proposals and sent chapter guidelines. Full chapters are expected to be submitted by November 30, 2014. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis.
