Congratulations to Séamus Fanning on his recent invitation to speak at The Sackler Institute for Nutrition Science, at the New York Academy of Science in June 2016

The Sackler Institute for Nutrition Science, at the New York Academy of Sciences, has invited Shéa Fanning (SPHPSS) to participate as a speaker in a symposium focusing on the intended and unintended consequences of reducing antibiotics in the food system, to be held on June 3rd 2016, at the New York Academy of Sciences in New York City.
This one-day conference aims to review the scientific evidence on reducing antibiotics in the food system and the implications for the food supply, food safety, and public health. The objective is to bring together research from all stakeholders (veterinary health, human health, food safety, and food system economics) to collectively assess current knowledge and how science can support the twin public health goals of supplying safe, affordable and nutritious food and controlling antibiotic resistance. This event is targeted towards a scientific audience, and participants in the Sackler Institute’s symposia have a record of having high quality interactions during discussion sessions.
